I had an amazing experience at the Hive Salon and would recommend it to anyone. I called on a Friday looking for a straightening appointment for my 3c/4a hair since my usual stylist had to cancel our appointment. They not only were able to book me, but were extremely honest about the services they felt comfortable doing. Curly hair is hard and not a lot of cosmetology school train on it, so I really appreciate the honesty, because some stylists would just say yes and try they best and possibly mess up my hair. I came in for my appointment and was initially very anxious due to my many requests and precautions, but Anna was absolutely wonderful. She listened to everything I had to say, was amazing to have conversation with, and was just overall great at what she does. I also want to say a big thank you to her since she really took her time with my hair (3 1/2) to make it look amazing, and just did a really great job. If I didn’t have my usual stylist I would go here, and it’s great to know there is somewhere else I can get this service done. Although they were unable to cut my hair, I really appreciate the honesty over the pursuit of money. Salon has great a gender pricing, and seems to pay its workers a livable wage and make it enjoyable for them to work there. Really love that it’s woman owned and operated as well!!

Went in for the first time a few weeks ago for a haircut and style and had Anna. She was patient and sweet and helped me figure out exactly what I wanted with my hair and even took the time to show me how to curl it the way she had, which I had complimented. Last week I came back for an eyebrow wax and my gf had a hair color consult with Liz. Again, it was a fantastic experience and I left after having the least painful brow wax of my life. The salon itself is gorgeous and allows for a fun and relaxed environment—especially if you’re someone who hasn’t always felt comfortable in salon settings like myself. All in all it’s a 5 star experience, well worth the drive in from KC. We will be returning for all of our styling needs in the future!

The Hive is an incredible inclusive and amazing salon in Lawrence, right off 6th street. Inside a super cute and cozy interior, this place has some of the friendliest and most experienced stylists I've ever encountered! I will be driving in from KC to get my hair cut and colored now because it's by far the best salon experience I've had in years. You can't go wrong no matter which stylist you book with, but highly recommend booking with Chelsea if she's available! Pricing is really reasonable considering the excellent experience I received, and I can't wait to go back for my next cut/color!

Got a cut today from Liz. I wasn't really sure what I was looking for. Mostly just a change and she did exactly what I was hoping. I looked and felt fabulous after. I also love the fact that the Hive is making stance to be inclusive for all. One of the things that attracted me to the space!

An enjoyable experience in a very clean and well managed shop. Recent renovation inside with a mod style and fun vibe.Take a deep breath, no sticky layers of hairspray from years past! Cut and color what you would expect from a high end salon with experienced stylists.

Wonderful experience for my male pre teen with long hair. Welcoming, kind, knowledgeable and fun. We left and he said, “This is my new spot!”
